Service in Belgium

70 years ago, our unit; 40 Field Sqn RE; spent about 6 weeks in Lier, Belgium
Our unit packed up most of our kit, except for bridging panels etc; and drove from Osnabruck
We camped in tents beside a moat of an old fort; nearby ground works were being prepared something to do with NATO
We were paid in Belgium Francs; and think we still got mail; but letters home used Belgium stamps
Had a great time, but cant remember what we actually did; was a surprise to the locals as they had not seen British troops since 1945
Does anyone have anymore information and or did service in Belgium
