| Hello, we are in search of a british unit in 1947/1948. This unit was stationed in Bielefeld. The only clue we have is that the uniforms were black Because my English has got rusty a little bit I have I write here with on-line translator. I ask this to excuse

| My immediate thought comes to one of the Royal Tank Regiments. Never heard of MBT's being stationed in Bielefeld though.

My thoughts exactly as the RTR didn't start wearing thier black coveralls again until sometime in the 50s! |

| After contacting the RTR Museum, I received the following responce:
I have just spoken to Colonel Longman; he remembers 3rd RTR being at Detmold but agrees that Bielefeld would not have been able to handle tanks. However he says it would have been quite possible for RTR personnel to be posted there without armour.
Still, if the RTR didn't wear black (again) until the 50's, then it is very unlikely for it to be them. Therefore, the MSO tree is a tree well worth barking up. |
