The Queen Mother was our "Colonel of the Regiment", apparently when addressing her you had to call her "Colonel" too.

Academic really. I mean you'd hardly be likely to run into her in the Cpls mess, Caen Bks would you ? queen

Picking up on the Toast to the Queen thread, as I remember with great difficulty, the President of the mess said and I quote, "Gentlemen, The Queen, Our Captain General" This was in the RCA but I don't know if this was unique to the Canadian gunners.

In our WOs & Sgts mess the RSM would say "Mister Vice" and the most junior member would say "Gentlemen, Our Captain General, The Queen!".

(That is unless he'd been plied with much alcohol, then it was anybody's guess how it came out !).

The toast was normally arranged, depending on the function etc, occasionally it was funny, often it was 'to the ladies' !!
Sometimes to the battle honour etc. always more than one !!

I think we have enough members to form our own WO's & Sgt's Mess. We need the follow:

A President: PMC & 2 Members: Treasurer: Entertainment & 2 Members: Mess caterer. Think that will do for starters. Brum, your Senior Memberin rank, so that makes you the President. Now for the rest of the committee ..........!! Over & out.

PEC : Shelldrake

Caterer : Brum, but he should be President owing to Seniority of Rank. I think Les should be Caterer !
