| So, are you interested in this Forum or are you more interested in selling your items? The latter I think.... | |

| Dear Martin. I´m interested in the history. I´m member in several forums related with WWII and this part of postwar history is quite interesting for me too. I arrive to this forum looking for information about the item I have for sale. Is there anything bad if I post here my offer to other members of this nice forum? |

| You can get a piece of History. The only one authentic bronze stamp from the first Headquarter of the British Army of Rhine. For sale the authentic stamp used by Montgomery Headquarter in the Hotel Koenigshof in the town of Bad Oeynhausen during 1945-46 Perfect condition but for the dots made to make it useless. When used the lettering could be readen perfectly as they are most deep than the dots. Came directly from the german Waffen SS officer who was working attached to Monty who was given this piece as a souvenir. First to say I´ll take it gets this piece of History.
What a crock of sh*t. Suppose Rommel had a British Commando attached as well? No advertising on here please Mod.

| Thats funny boys, but you can be sure: this item came to me directly from the family of this man who was in the waffen SS division Frundsberg and just after the end of the war was attached (I don´t know how or why) to the british HQ. Maybe I was not very correct in the use of your nice language. Sorry for that. I don´t know how can explain when a surrendered soldier is called to colaborate in some questions with the winner army. Anycase its quite clear: this man was not the only one case of german officers working for the british, american, french or russian authorities in Germany after the war. So I don´t understand you and your jokes. Have a nice day. |

| He was alledged Waffen SS. They were classed as ardent nazis and as such would not have been allowed within a kilometre of the great (some say) Field Marshall, never mind being given a gift by him.
Can you imagine an eighth army veteran learning about such a thing at the time? No invites to reunions for him and the press would have had a field day.
If you are going to guild the lily at least try to make it convincing. The truth, it was stolen by some German who was employed to make tea for the higher ups after being vetted to ensure they were not likely to put poison in it. I am of course assuming that it is not just something that has been made to ensnare some gullible wannabe who hadn't the guts to join up himself?

It has been acknowledged that I have the attention span of a goldfish. That being said, I find myself bemused by the fact that this link has gone from a dodgy East European trying to sell a waffen SS Montgomery rubber stamp to a rubber dick. All that aside for the moment. Without looking it up on Wickipedia then, who can tell me what PIAT stands for ? (Over 70s need not reply !)

| With a kick like a bloody horse ... the first time I fired one I was in the Army Cadet Force, circa 1947/8, I didn't listen to my instructor and dug my toes in, like firing a Bren .. Jesus my body arched up at right angles ... then the fun of reloading it .. you had to be built like Charles Atlas.

| I had a neighbour who had served through the war, and he used to tell me about the PIAT. I never asked what the initials stood for, but he used to tell me that to load it you had to stand on it and heave away. Don't know how true this was, as I never actually saw one. | |

Projector Infantry Anti Tank? Well done that man ! (ditto the button stick !). I was reading recently about an officer at Arnhem who spent several days wandering about, taking pot-shots at German vehicles with a PIAT. He must've been built like a brick outhouse ! I never saw one myself. Our anti-tank weapon was the 3.5in rocket launcher, (bit like a Bazooka).

| They were spring operated and fired a 4" projectile as you can see in the photo .. to reload you had to stand up and heave upwards to cock it by compressing the spring .. for such an ungainly weapon it was surprisingly effective ... the projectile punctured the armour and the explosive charge shot forward through the small hole and it was the concussion created inside the tank that killed the crew ..
