Being a suspicious minded sort of bloke, I won't click on the link. Apologies if genuine but you should say what it is supposed to be especially as you are new and this is your first post. Chaps you have been warned!

| Stand down the Guard ! Call off the dogs......... It was me, or at least, I'd a finger in the pie. Gordon will know I sought his advice about putting pics. on the forum, & very helpful he was too! Longish story..........
When my daughter & her partner, who runs his own IT fiddle, said they were visiting this weekend, I told them, too, of my problem. I gather now that, to check it out before they came, he accessed the site and had to log in with a fictitious name......... forgive him that, he was raised in Germany as an RAF brat, not a Pongo's offspring. How the other stuff, the clouds & the gun got on, I'm not sure. Those were certainly a mistake and should never have been sent from here, but it wasn't me that did it........ appreciated No.3, though, it reminded me there are better pastimes than sweating over a keyboard making grovelling apologies, and it's nice to see someone was wise enough to sound the alarm.
The gun might have been sent eventually. It was conceived after cuts in the 1960's disbanded a TA Light Ack Ack Regt and shows how earlier proposals for a muzzle loading AA gun could have been resurrected to utilise obsolete barrels and gun carriages. They were the brainchild of a Capt. (later L/Bdr) Snodgrass and were submitted to the War Dept. in 1863. Having given the project more than cursory inspection, the proposals were rejected on two counts. Firstly, it was considered that an anticipated rate of fire of about 2 minutes a round was woefully inadequate for the role. Secondly, as the proposal preceded the invention of the first practical flying machine by 40 odd years, there appeared to be little immediate need for such a weapon.
(You should note that this is a wind up &, for what it's worth, the writer admits full responsibility for of the illustration).

| Apologies for the alarm caused, no harm intended. I was just testing the photo/image uploading facility for Cartav. The image in queston is hosted by this forums partner www.servimg.com and was posted as a link (the third option on the host image drop down), rather than showing the photo. Sorry again. PS. I'm not ex RAF, but my Dad is. | |
