| Gordon,
Thanks for cryptic answer. You wern't by any chance cipher eh! In my day NAG was known as 18 Army Group Sig Regt (Harewood Barracks 1954) - don't remember any reference to a 28 (BR) Sig Regt. Although did come across 28 (Comel) Sigs in Far East/Korea

| As we near remembrance Sunday I thought this to be very appropriate
Why do I wear a poppy? I’ll tell you if I may, Because I believe remembrance is not only for one day. I wear it for the fallen, And for those falling still For those who come back broken in body or in will. For the parents, spouses, siblings where bereavement takes its toll. ... ... Whose pain will never leave them, It eats into their soul For the wino on the corner, in a life with nothing left, Now he wishes when in battle he had died a hero’s death. For the lad who loved a kick-about in the park with all his mates, But now his legs are held together with pins and metal plates For the selfless men and women whose final journey home Is in a Union flag-draped coffin on comrades’ shoulders borne. For all those marching proudly In Remembrance Day parades My poppy’s worn in gratitude for the sacrifice they made......... | |

| Just another piece of 'bling' as far as I'm concerned but no doubt many will wear it with pride. I saw on one site what a certain individual was going to wear on Remembrance Day, it included a GSM and two commemorative medals. There are many 'old guy's' still lamenting the fact that they were serving when King George VI was on the throne and when Elizabeth was crowned and never got the Coronation Medal.

| Ciphers, I'm relating to your comments, ''There are many 'old guys' lamenting the fact that they were serving when King George VI was on the throne and when Queen Elizabeth was crowned and never got the Coronation Medal.'' Hey, I'm one of those''old guys'' (1950-70). who somehow must have been overlooked but I'm not going to trash her majesty for her oversight. I was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration known as the CD which is awarded for 12 years continuous service and am entitled to use it after my name. But I am pi' 'ed off that our Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnson CC, CMM, CGM, CD was awarded the CD and has never served a day in the military. I will be wearing my poppy and my CD next Friday Cheers Bob Ritter CD | |
