Is there any old 3 and 8`s on here? I served from 1982 until 1988, at Harewood barracks and then sunny Tidworth.

Welcome

After my time I am afraid, knew the Regiment in the mid 50s as a schoolboy when they were in Neumunster, in Munster in the late 60s and finally in 1980 when they provided a Squadron as the UNFICYP Recce Armoured Car Squadron

My memory of the Three 'n Eights goes back to Paderborn, '64-ish.

Our next door neighbour then was a pleasant little Yorkie bloke who drove one of their Conquerors. It seemed strange that a little bloke like him should be getting into what must have been the biggest tank in the world at that time.

Just thought I'd throw that in ! Embarassed

KS

Welcome

I was at school in Ploen in the mid 1950s when there was a strong link between the 13/18th and King Alfred School. SNCOs from the Regiment helped out with the CCF, the Regimental Band would give regular concerts in our School Hall and we would be invited to Neumunster in small groups to visit the Regiment.

Hi JPW,
Cannot say I remember your visits to Neumunster. Did they ever take you to the

favorite regimental pub? Not far from the main gate Run by Renate and her brother.

I believe it was called the jukebox. KS

KS

i was only 15/16 at the time, so no chance of a pub visit

Suspect you would remember if you had seen the 16/17 year old 6th Form girls in their Sea Ranger uniforms though

Hi Dsandy7,

I was also stationed in Harewood Barracks - I assume its the one on the junction of the Ringstrasse & Bad Oeynhausen Road in Herford. Only it was 1952-4 when HQ BAOR Signal Regt was in station.
What block were you in ? I was the 3rd block up on the RH side, where there was a sloping cobble road down to the cookhouse and NAAFI buildings.

Hi
I'm sure it was the 13/18H (mind you it could have been the 15/19H) that were based in Buller Barracks in Munster where I was in a small detachment handling MFO and flight queries for the Munster area, great times
