| G'day Lads It has been awhile since I posted, but I thought Iwould up date you on things down under. I sold the Fox in December of 2011, after replacing the engine when it blew up the gear box went down again and I had enough and it was going to cost a small fortune to fix! Anyway, with the money from the sale and some I had stashed for a rainy day, went and got two WARSAW PACT vehicles which are now on their way after being fully refurbished in Poland. Some of you may be familiar with them, but I will post some pics here so that you can have a look at them. These buggers should be better behaved than old Basil was........I hope! Cheers Troy | |

| The Aussie army has a SKOT that dosn't go and is in a very sad state, the tracked MTLBu is the only one in the country. WARSAW Pact gear is very rare here, but is starting to come on the market in Europe. The SKOT was 11,000 EURO, fully restored, the MTLBu was 13,000 Euro fully restored. $30,000 Aussie to get them to Tasmania. You should see what the stress had done to me | |

| Handler69,
Where in hell did this Aussie greeting come from - G'day. It didn't seem to be around when I was young and I cannot remember any of the Aussies say this greeting when I was out in Korea. It was all Chips Rafferty etc.

| I think it the shortned version of good day. I don't know where or when it came in either! To be honest. It is now part of the Australian vocabulary, sadly some words like "cobber" are not heard much and most of the upcoming generation has been americansied with that vulgar language peculiar to a certain "type" of filth Cheers Troy | |

Cheers Troy we talking "Bogans" here Troy from what I remember in BAOR they had a touring team used to come round with several Warsaw pact vehicles, I also remember how cramped they were, I couldn't even get in the driivers seat of a BTR (P) | |

G'day: Universal greeting, used anytime day or night, but never as a farewell. Pronounced "gud-eye", usually followed by "mate" (mite) |

| Never having had any contact with the Aussies, I allways thought "g'day" was an ANZAC thing and I don't mind it at all. What drives me barmy is the way they put an upward inflection at the end of each sentence, it sounds like they've asked a question. I notice a girl character in "American Pie" exaggerated it to make her character more irritating so I think the Yanks might be to blame for that too !

| The SKOT is a much better designed vehicle, but alas the driving stylr leaves alot to be desiered. As you can see, the driver has his head in here, you can't see your wheel or look at your gears LOL....also makes looking at skirt a little hard ( no pun intended! ) Alot of the Soviet gear ( like British stuff too) is hard for us larger chaps to get into, I had alot of problems getting in and out of Basil! I have been told that anyone over 6ft will have a hard time driving these pair, Iam 5ft 11. My Scottish mate, Niall X 4 RTR is a big bugger and will have alot of fun with the pair of them. Hopefully I will have recovered from my operation (trapped Ulna nerve both arms) by the time the beasts get here. And yes we have a BOGAN problem here as well. Their "BOOF BOOF" music at traffic lights, I turn up the bagpipes and give em the finger | |

| I usually say G'day cobber. Idon't know about sentence structure LOL. As for where it came from.....well we Aussies do tend to slaughter the King's/Queen's English, though no where near as bad as the Americans LOL. Trying to understand Scottish poetry is a bit of a challenge too | |
