You will also be issued with a Zimmer frame, a little blow up rubber ring and a pair of comfy slippers. Looking at the photograph it would seem that only people with the Rootie Gong qualify so, they won't be wanting me. I'm a bit old be be a Launcher No 1 now anyway. Very Happy

Hospital Sergeants wear gold braid on their scarlet coats and this has to be added to the cuffs and pockets, and they wear larger than average rank chevrons.

Snigger not, it's crazy........... This week in conversation with a young chap, he told he'd been offered a job in Bastion. Two years, £150 K, all found, ten weeks on, three weeks off, flown to UK each time or wherever he wants if he pays the extra over the cost of a UK flight.

"Thought they were cutting back " he observed. "Yes they are. Getting rid of military and replacing with civvies " was the response.

A mate of mine, an ex para and Falklands veteran was finding it hard to get any gainful employment so within the para community (mercenaries) he got a job in Iraq 'armed to the teeth' as a security bod. He was well paid and even had a paid holiday in somewhere like Dubai as R&R IIRC.

He had his 50th birthday a few weeks back !
