Subject: DETLEF REGENBERG RIP 20/10/2013, 07:10
Visitors to this site in recent weeks may have read the contributions by Deadleaf especially on the subject of Munster Garrison.
It is my sad responsibility to report that Detlef suddenly collapsed and died of a heart attack late last week.
There is no doubt that Detlef was an intelligent humourous man with a growing sense of awareness and interest in the military history of Munster.
It will be a small lasting tribute to Detlef, that thanks to his personal knowledge and willingness to visit the Stadt Archives on our behalf on the his last visit to his home City (he lived 250 miles away), we now have an accurate description and location of all the British Barracks in Munster in the immediate post war period. It is also a mark of how Anglo German relations have changed in the past 70 years.
My sincere condolences to Detlef's family and friends, including his elder brother Bernd who has kindly offered to continue his brother's research.

JPW Tragic news…please pass my sincere condolences to his family and think we should make a dedication to Detlef aka Deadleaf on the Münster page of BAOR Locations when the new website is up and running…presently locked for a complete rebuild…a man with clearly a brilliant sense of humour and having a great interest in what we are doing to preserve the history of BAOR…born in 1950 so clearly died too young! RIP Detlef

I have had a further exchange of Private emails with Bernd, Detlef's elder brother. He has clearly read the tributes on this site and asked that a personal message of thanks and appreciation be posted on his behalf. He also referred to them at the Funeral Oration.
He also repeated his offer to assist in our ongoing researches in to the history of the British in Munster.
