Hello
My Name is Anna and I'm looking for my Dad. He was stationed until 1986/87 in Osnabrück. My Mother was then called Silke B. and was 20 Years old. Since my mother is no contact I got no informations about my father. I was born on 13.10.1986 in Mettingen near Osnabrück. With so little Information, is is very difficult but I want to try everything. I would love to tell him that he is grandfather.
I hope you can help me
Sincererly yours
Anna B.

Hello Anna We would need some information, his name and what regiment or barracks was he at while stationed in Osnabrück. Also any idea where he came from in UK.

Hallo Anna,

There was a song......... WW1 vintage, I think, something like -
Pardon my French , & Canucks forgive the errors, It's been a long time since I had to learn it.
But this sort of thing ain't funny and I feel for the lasses who come up with such requests. I hope they get answers. Do the military close ranks & protect the Brits who dodge their responsibilities? ............ And but for the Grace of God.......... !!!!!!!

I can't remember NS lads in my lot caused much aggro in that direction........... When Tiger Tim's Weekly was advanced reading material for some, it's likely the subject & mechanics of procreation were unknown subjects for one or two. If the rest were well up in theory they were deficient in practical experience. And, of course, ten years after WW2, the locals weren't keen on mixing with the winners.
Biggest irritation for the shopkeepers was the practice of taking a watch or camera on HP just a week or so before demob & waving two fingers of scorn at an honest trader from the back of the QL as the lucky ones headed for the train to the Hook. Young Maurice, a Jewish Bty. Clerk, sorted this out for a cut of the traders' profits. With access to everyone's demob date, he did the paper work in camp , geared up weekly payments to remaining pay days and collected instalments.

There are still some folks looking for Dad in the Canadian Army from Holland, UK and Germany. It's a shame, but in some cases they are better off not knowing them.
Any body who was born between 1939 and 1945 and adopted in my home town was practically guaranteed to be a from a soldier posted there at the officer training camp in Brockville Ont.

I'm still looking
I know his first name is James. He left Osnabrück in the spring of 1986.
The German youth office does not want to call me his surname, since he knew nothing about the pregnancy. My parents had a relationship for several months.Perhaps there is someone from his former environment who remembered it.
I know there is not much information. I just don't want to give up.

Now I have some Information about my Dad. He calles himself James Redmond. He was verry tall and dark-haired. He had a relationship with my mother, but suddenly he was gone.
He probably left the country before my birth (October 86)
I hope someone can help me. I don't know my mother, but at least I want to get to know my father
Thanks

Hallo Anna,

Hi
My last post is from 2017, a lot has happened since then. I know that my father is not James Redmond, but Drew (Andrew?) Redmond was called. He comes from Belfast, grew up on Shankill Road. I don't know if he went back there. Unfortunately, no one from his unit has any contact with him anymore. I will hopefully be able to travel to Belfast in the fall and continue searching on site.
Maybe someone here remembers him or can give me tips for my search on site. I would be very grateful for that.
