| - Wow, where is everyone, it sort of echos in here to those far off memories when we were all young. Those Cold War Warrior years in Germany and other places, how time flies when you get older. Now that the hair is grey, has fallen out, and I no longer can comb my locks into a quiff, laddled down with Brylcream. The eyes grow a tad dim, not as sharp as they were, the old stomach gets in the way, and the knees knock with rheumatisms - well life aint so bad after all. One can still get dressed, washed and shaved - can still get one's strides on and get out and about, and still drive. My taste in music is still stuck in the 1970s with 'Abba', when i hear an Abba tune strike up, my eyes glaze ofver, my abck straightens, I imagine I ahve hair on me bonce, and the years fall away as I used to get up on floor of the Corporal's Mess and then proceed to disgrace myself after quaffing vast amounts of the Amber Nectar. Needless to say, this no longer happens. I do keep my clothes on now...... lol I often wonder what happened to all those 'That Rifle', those SLR's that we had - did many of them end up in darkest Africa as the weapon of choice of those ragamuffin militia bands terrorising that continent, along with their AK47s. Well, such is life. It is january the Frist, 2016, another year has gone by - so i wish all you Old Cold war Warriors a happy nd peaceful 2016.... | |
