| Think we can discount Cromwell Barracks Hamm, there would have been ANTARS or equivalent on show
Think this is a Tank Park of a working Armoured Regiment located in a Hitler era build barracks. We can therefore discount the Loddenheide complex at Munster and the Dodesheide complex at Osnabruck and Barker Barracks Paderborn. which is still in use.
One of our Ironside callsigns must recall which Regiments were equiped with Centurions with a Conqueror troop in each Sabre Squadron in the 1960s.

| I was ASM of 617 Tk Tptr Wksp and the photos are just as I remember Cromwell Bks, Hamm. The photos could have been taken about the time when Cents and Conqs were being replaced by Chieftains. 2 ADS had limited hanger space which would have been used for the Chieftains for security reasons and the old tanks parked up on part of the veh park before back loading to UK. The full sqn of Antars only took up half of the available parking space. | |

| I am not going to argue with my good friend Bob G, particularly as many years experience taught me that you annoy your REME ASM at your peril (and this applies equally to all capbadges) | |

| It's Bob G who is the expert on Cromwell Barracks, I was a spotty teenage schoolboy when I lived in Hamm briefly in the mid 1950s (my father was based elsewhere in the town in Newcastle Barracks) | |

Probably a few years too late, but for anyone who is interested, the civvy in the two photos is a German electrician, Bill Holscher(sp?). Used to smoke a stinking pipe!! I was with 2 ADS from 1969 - 73, and for anyone interested, I've got a photo somewhere of us (Germans, MOJOs and Brits) on a "jolly" to the VW factory in Wolfsburg(?) and Herr Holscher is in plain sight.

| My name is Barry Sturgeon I served in Germany doing my national service. Spent my time apart from basic trying in Portsmouth at Ironside Barracks with 7OFP. Always looked for some one that may have saved there. Would love to hear from you. Barry | |
