This year Niedersachen/Lower Saxony celebrates 75 yrs of its existence having been drawn on a map Post WW2.
NDR (North German TV) is broadcasting a progamme on 2 Jun 21, with a voice over by John Goodyear of Birmingham University (in German), to commemorate the occasion - a second 75 minute programme will be transmitted in October covering more of the history and featuring newsreels and interviews and some interviews Prof. Goodyear has conducted with veterans of the former BAOR.

1st Corps District was responsible as 30th Corps District had disbanded 1 Oct 46, on disbandment 1 Jul 47, 7th Armoured Division and 5th Infantry Division took responsibility less the north-east of the province to Hamburg District until Hannover District formed 15 Jan 48

Not surprisingly the TV link and its associated files asks for donation of artefacts, documents, photos and remiscences of the time to enrich the planned historical section in the Niedersachsen exhibitions or museums - see below

The "Ordinance No. 55" of the British military government officially established the state of Lower Saxony with the capital Hanover on November 1, 1946. The first state government under Prime Minister Hinrich Wilhelm Kopf has to solve immense problems.
Have a copy of the original document of the day in German and English somewhere on my hard drive but cannot find...

Here is a light hearted 1945 map of the 30 Corps District area that became Niedersachsen 75 years ago on the same day the district disbanded, however gave up west of Hannover to 1 Corps District on 5 May 46
