Sold to the highest bidder by BImA towards the end of 2015. The building was placed under a historical protection order in 1990 and was built in 1927 for an industrialist. The building itself has a footprint of 300 m² and sits in a landscape of 22.639 m² which includes a garden house, a granny flat, a pond and a tennis court (and probably a garage and somewhere for the gardening kit?)

Very nice too. Regrettably the powers that be have taken away my free movement as a Brit, I'm not in prison, it just feels that way. Wonder if I could claim asylum if I fled the UK ?

This forum is not really the place for airing your political views. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion on Brexit. If you really think that the EU is so wonderful then there is nothing to stop you moving there.

My last post was a reply to Graham B. Unfortunately, two more posts came in so it makes it rather confusing. Apologies.

Not too long ago you could have been in a former Barracks whilst your asylum claim was heard - Hammersmith in Herford was such a des. res. still has vacancies and Dempsey Barracks Sennelager has currently more than 350 spare bedspaces (Ukrainian refugees). or Englische strasse in Gütersloh and Büren, Oldentrupp, Bielefeld and (i assume) your old stomping ground at Bad Driburg!
There, was an appeal for cooks and bottle washers to work on contract basis inside the Sennelager base for the duration of an exercise or two or three (NAAFI has the catering contract). https://naafi.co.uk/locations/germany/
As other replies have shown there is no need to insulate yourself on the island . . . mind you there is some very cold weather on the way, no surprise for us on the continent!

Apologies if I offended anyone, I will keep my feelings to myself in future. Not intending to start a campaign. However, I do miss driving the 25 miles from Artillerie strasse in Sennelager to work via Bad Driburg, so thanks for the reminder Pborn4

Artillerie Strasse patch (OR MQs N Sennelager, Paderborn Gar 1950s build) has also gone from the Mil/Brit estate - handed back and sold off to Stadt Paderborn (after a an expensive refurb) - already been a murder up there. There are still - no more than two - Defence Fire Service guys who remember doing in-load drills into Nieheim from Railhead sennelager. And the ammo depot as far as i remember (featured/reported elsewhere on this site) has become a kinda "Top Gear" test circuit.
I was based in Barker Barracks in the 1960s and Bad Driburg was on our "Quick Train" crash out route - great fun at sparrow-fart in free-running International Harvester longbodies with loaded HJ pole trailer! Them days it was a serpentine road (B64) in to the Bad Driburg town (R68) (I know of a Saracen that rolled sideways down that hill). (In the 1980s I was a civvy coach driver taking visiting US Troops to the Glass factory).

Behind that green bush lower right is a huge double Garage where Generals family vehicles kept. Basement was for staff room , laundry and "spare parts" for the house etc... huge basement area!!. Their Gardener was called Peter, a Germaan fellow, slightly cantankerous, and had been there for years lol.... right down the garden and passed the pond and back up the hill was a helicopter pad where guests and VIP'S would land when visiting. They had free range chickens which kept the house in eggs!!. Taurus house had a twin ,up in Lübecke at Church House, that one was the original and Taurus house was the copy !. The one at Church house was the one Monty used as a HQ after the surrender of Church house ( then a Hitler youth training camp I believe). It was aledged thet he threatened to flatten the place from the bottom of the hill if they didn't surrender. To the left of the house in the pic and round the corner , is a summer house and large lawn area for "croquet" and afternoon tea etc in the summer.
