I was in the lab from 1979-1982 and from 1984-1988. Are there any old RAOC pet ops left who served there?

I lived in 72 Drei Brücken Strasse Warendorf in 1963/64 for 18 months. It was a hiring belonging to a German Professor who was teaching in Italy. In the war he was a Fallschirmjager who had fought in Crete. We were the only Service family living there at that time. The weekly Volkswagen took Jean to Munster to shop. It was always a source of amusement when they couldn't find the house and asked a local. Before they asked they would get a reply! Englische frauen? Grader aus un irste links!!!! The only barracks was where the German Olympic team were based/ trained in horse riding events. It was quite close to where we lived. I used to walk my daughter past it in the evenings. Jean used to tell me that the soldiers would jog past in the morning singing their Leider(?). Xmas Eve 63 we were surprised when there was a knock on the door. It was a German Hauptman with a doll for Susan. He had with him about 12 OR's I gave them a bottle of beer each - fortunately JUST had enough!!! - and they sang carols to before departing. After that it was not unusual for there to be a titbit for Susan as they passed! I have some photos. Not really interesting unless you have a reason. I will post if you want!

We lived in the Munster area for two tours 1979-1882 and 1984-1988 as UK based civilians. 4PD was in the woods near Everswinkel but was always called Warendorf. I loved Warendorf town, when I left BAOR my German staff presented me with a book on the town which I treasure. We met with nothing but kindness from the Germans for the whole of our tours. We had a tour of the Olympic training facility, please post your pictures.

Attached are the photos I promised to post here for senojbdet, known as Ted.
Welcome back Ted.
Sadly, most postings are now gone for ever. New guys will never have a bite of some of the BAOR postings we enjoyed as you and many others will have had?
From your photos, it seems Warendorf appears to have been the ideal place to bring up your family in a safe environment. I bet you never slept in, with such an alarm clock in the back garden?
Ted, you mention you lost your wife of 62 years last August. On behalf of the members, please accept our condolences. I do hope you will find here some found memories of your Army career and the experiences of others to keep you occupied here on the site?
Here are your photos (I hope I got things correct as you explained?) Seems my PC kept doing daft things this afternoon!

I was one of the first posted to Warendorf in 1975 with WO1 Mick McCabe only worked on the depot not the Lab. My last 3 months in the army was issuing out all POL at 4PD Neinburg before handing it back.
