| One of my neighbour's was based in Bunde and acquired the last SOXMIS map issued on the on the 10th june 1986 and I have a laminated copy on my office wall.
Was there a BRIXMIS map of the ares denied to BRIXMIS and does any one have a copy.
I was a SOXMIS threat lecturer in the Int Corp (TAVR) but never saw a SOXMIS car in anger, although I have seen the BRIXMIS cas at RAF Cosford. | |

| I tried to upload a photo of me about to go on Soxmis patrol but couldn't manage it.
The photo was taken in Ripon Barracks, Bielefeld in 1963 and shows me about to go chasing those "pesky" Russians. I'm dressed in battle dress complete with white belt and gaiters, standing next to my Ford Zephyr complete with big blue light.
The Zephyr could keep up with everything the Russians had and could catch most of them! We had a lot of fun racing around the country lanes!
We were told never to enter their vehicles as that was deemed to be Russian territory but we did smoke their horrible "cardboard tube" cigarettes! We just stopped them and called up the Int Corps who came and interviewed them!
To answer a previous question, the Soxmis vehicles were not allowed into British barracks but on one occasion, a Soxmis car actually refuelled at a British POL point and the driver even signed for the petrol as Colonel so and so, SOXMIS!!! | |
