| Will somebody please help this poor befuddled brain of mine BMH Iserlohn and Argonne Barracks? Were they one and the same, two different areas within the same fence, or to do with each other? Paul. | |

| Thanks to Stu who runs www.forgottenhistory.co.uk and some local research with Iserlohn Stadtarchiv have more details recorded here http://baor-locations.co.uk/ArgonneBks.aspx scroll down and click on the link to my Pisca photo album for a range of images from 1936 until today...interesting to note 70 million DM was spent only to be closed 4 years later then took another 6 years before being sold! | A memory for me of BMH. Is that periodically they would call for blood donors. So answering the call once in 1966 we went down and donated. A young L/Cpl RAMC was doing the plumbing job of collecting the blood. The first thing we notice was a great splotch of an old blood stain. On the foam mattress used to lie down on. Kind of gave us all sorts of confidence that the young lad knew his job. After giving our blood we found out that we were entitled to a bottle of beer. Dortmund Union type. So we egged him onto giving us a a bottle or two more. I guess he realized that he had to account for the brew, so he asked us to leave in a nice way. Guess he was getting worried about just how rambunctious these Canadian yahoo's were going to get. One of my better blood donation times. Much better than a coffee or coke and doughnut. | |

| hmmmm....not sure how a bottle of good strong Dortmunder Union would affect you after having given a pint of blood but, yeah, dang sight better than a cuppa tea and cookies or a coffee or fruit juice or what-have-you.
As for the "great splotch of an old blood stain" on the foamie...Eeeeew!!! I suppose you could count your blessings that it was a great splotch of old blood and not a great splotch of some other body fluid!!! Double Eeeew.....!!!!!! I mean, friendly is one thing but there are limits! | |
