| Joined this group yesterday and was surprised to find that Obernkirchen was mentioned. After training and a short stint at 81 Maritime at Gosport,I was sent to 29 along with another driver Bill Fleming, arriving there in Aug66. It was a good posting as far as I was concerned, with some great lads .Off the top of my head there was a WO1 McKenna in charge along with Sgt Danny Mulligan.A couple of full screws were Paddy Joyce,Mick Brett(later to transfer to MPSC),Noddy Jones. A few dvrs were,Johnny Marment,Lofty Careless,Ken Tyson,Paddy Johnston,Steve Yarlett(deceased),Dave Brimble just to name a few. I had a look at the pictures of the old place and rather a sorry state.I have a couple of photos that I will get around to putting on. I left there on July 1 69,en route for 130 flight RCT at RAF Changi, but then in Jan of 70 transferred to the RMP at Gillman Bks in Singapore. | |

Hi Digger, I haven't been on the site for a while, then I saw your message. I well remember most of those you mention. I was really sorry about the sad death of Stevie Yarlett, his German wife, Marlies, must have been devastated. I heard of it from Ray Weldrand (also RCT), who was there around the same time as me. I must know you too, but I can't place you. Anyway, I wish you well and thanks for bringing up some very happy memories with the names. MsG | |
