| Looks very interesting. That page with the bombers over Kiel is superb. I counted six but probably missed some as per usual. Blowing up the U-Boat pens I couldn't help but say "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off".  | |

Thank you for the tip off, you have given Steve and I fair bit of extra homework in our quest for info on the very early days of BAOR
The (complete) demolition of the U Boat pens was part of the Naval plans of Operation Eclipse which was designed to ensure the Royal Navy would never again be challenged on the High Seas by a German Fleet. Similar scenes would be happening at Wilhelmshaven and Emden at the same time.
4RHA were long standing residents of Dorset Barracks, anyone know exactly whereabouts in Kiel the Barrracks was? | |
