| Father-in-law from my first marriage was RCA (25 pounders) in Italy. Wouldn't talk about it much. Only conversation I got was, that Algeria was the sh*t's, kept lots of boiled eggs in his small pack (when possible) and remembered his gun firing multiple rounds at a window in a stone barn and not getting any in it. That was about his whole bag of memories of Italy. Though he did mention that the battle of Ortona was bad. Couldn't get any more from him. He re-enlisted after the war and went RCAMC. Must be lesson in there some where. | |
