While I am not sure why this has a connection with BAOR, we have an Asian sort of person selling the Big Issue in this sleepy little combat zone too.

I ignore him, that's the sort of bloke I am but quite a lot of people engage him in conversation.
Big fat bugger he is, clearly he does not rank among the impoverished.

Stephen the big issue is a magazine that is allegedly sold by the homeless and they keep the profit. Fair enough but a hell of a lot of them around here certainly ain't homeless and do other "business" on the side such as illegal tabacco selling. The idea is a good one but I am personally very cynical about it and won't contribute.

With respect to my good mate Brum (well we live relatively close), when did we ever worry about diversifyiing a thread? That's why we like it, no jobsworth mods!

a'contraire mon ami .. the Gentlemen of the Royal Corps used an enormous amount of Brasso/Dura Glit to gild Jimmies Willie .. as Cpl McBean my old instructor used to say 'gentlemen there are four pieces to your cap badge, the crown, Jimmy, the backplate and the pin, and each piece will be highly polished'.

Bought it in an antique shop. It was probably yours originally. Razz All staybright in my day.

My uncle was in the Corps during the war. Did you know him? Suppose Brum might have come across him or dropped one short while he was risking life and limb laying lines in front! tongue

Len, we had a similar description going for the Gunner badge. The Crown that was never worn, the Wheel that never turned, the Gun that was never fired, the Grass that never grew and erm..........can't remember the last one. Any suggestions for the good and benefit of the Mess, Brum? Embarassed Embarassed

Come on Gordon, it is the original Corps Badge of the Royal Signals replaced by the current 'Queen's Crown badge' in 1949, although its the first one I've seen with a backplate clip ./.
