9/12th Lancers and Fox

Well lads Christmas is fast approaching, I can hear the trample of bleedin feet at 0400 trying to get at the tree now!
I would like to wish one and all of you "crusty" veterans a happy and safe Christmas, not tooo much Port gentleman and a prosperous and warm 2011.

Still busy with my Fox cobber....still isn't going anywhere! Weather was OK here today, wish I could bring you lads over for a holiday!
I keep an eye on the news and hope that you all are OK over there, it looks crook.

Unfortunately I never served with the 9/12th, but my father did SSGT TOM GILL (SQMS). Early seventies we were based at Hobart Barracks, lived in MQ at Poggenpohl Strasse. Then in 77 we moved to Omagh for 18 mnths, moved then to Minden on Attch until 1978.
I would like to possibly hear from anyone who knew my father. He served for 20yrs, Aden, Canada, Northern Ireland(3 tours), Munster (where I was born) Bielefeld, Lemgo. Detmold and Minden, to name but a few...

Hi Bob,
We moved from Detmold to Omagh in 1975 till 1977, dad was in 9/12th 1st troop C sqd. On base I never saw one track vehicle. Remember, scouts/ saladins/ ferrets/ stally's. Remember on base AAC had sioux and gazelles, never thought about the fact there were no tanks.
