Osnabruck Garrison

I have picked up two signs from the Osnabruck Garrison and wanted to post a couple of photos on here.I am having problems posting them so could someone send me an e.mail addres and I will return the photos for you to post.Cheers.

Thanks for posting these photos Mike.Can anyone date the time that these signs would have been used at Osnabruck,maybe from the regiments that were stationed there.I would like to find out how they ended up in a farm sale.Maybe it was the farm owners that perhaps took them as a momento!!

Prestatyn Barracks was closed when 7Fld Amb moved to Roberts Barracks in about 1970 , I was in Prestatyn Barracks from1959-1961 with 7 Fld Amb then in Roberts Barracks with them prior to the amalgamtion to 2ADFA in 1972 so the signs are of that period.and were just before Sedan Str from Blacker Barracks

The yellow badge was for 12 Inf later Mech Bde formally 21 Inf Bde and before that 91 Lorried Inf Bde the connection with Osnabrück was from May 56 to 1977 when became 5 Fd Force then Jan 81 became 12 Armd Bde until 1993...not sure if the badge was always with the brigade

No problem Colonel, now just go and do the research!!

I am at the moment in touch with my son who still lives in Osnabruck and he is going to ask some of the older expats that live there if they know what or where the Tac sign came from,will pass any details on .

How pleasant to see the old 12th Infantry Brigade Group insignia. From January 1961 until the end of 1963 I was at Imphal barracks, attached to the 16th/5th Queen's Own Lancers as the 'C' squadron pay clerk.
Many the happy hour spent at Georgie's in Dodesheide. I lived in Kleine London for a short while, but most of the time I was billeted with local families, the first of these being that of Herr Worstmann, the camp tailor. He had the dubious task of removing my chevrons after I was bust down for over-indulging in the NAAFI one night. Got them back later, when I was posted to Lisburn, Northern Ireland. I was well-behaved from then on, and came out with an 'exemplary' on my discharge papers. Lucky chap!
