| No I arrived in January 1955 and it was only one camp, and still only one camp when I left in July 1956. 1 Corps Signal Regt Further down the road was a RASC or RAOC camp.
Our shoulder flash was a White Spear Head on a Red Diamond.

| Quite right Gordon. I knew there was an excuse for me to not fix bayonets, Although I wasn't sure at the time. S'truth is it really nearly 50 years ago when that picture was taken. Jimsigs | |

You are correct. Our family was in BAOR several times from 1957 to 1970. My father was in Signals. We lived in Bunde from 1961 to 1963. SOXMIS was in the married officers compound where we lived. Us kids were fascinated to be so close to "them". Richard.

| I remember seeing the SOXMIS personnel sitting in their car when I use to take my young Son to Bunde from Herford, to collect the Sunday Papers and buy him a toy in the YMCA. Always laughed at the notion of loads of people report their whereabouts to the local RMP desk. The RMP people must have filled in loads of logs with this info. Jimsigs | |

| Hi JPW, I see you were at one time in Munster - which camp ? I was there in 1962 with 206 Signal Squadron at Gremmandorf - York Barracks and also in Married quarters at Heiderstrasse across the road from the camp. York Barracks at the time had first Queens Own Hussars then 4/7th Dragoon Guards. The Brigade Commander was Brig RMP Carver (Later FM Lord Carver). All old history now, but I only lasted until 1963 when I was posted to 7 Sig Regt in Herford. (I first came across Herford in 1952 with HQ BAOR Sig Regt at Harewood Barracks in Herford. Ph Jimsigsew !! that's 64 year ago. | |

I am a mere sprog compared to you
I was based in Waterloo Barracks, part of the Loddenheide complex, in the late 60s/early 70s. In my time apart from the Brigade Headquarters the 10th Hussars, 3rd Carabiniers and finally he 5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards were in York Barracks.
