| It was reported on the BBC earlier today that two Royal Marines had been killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
Come the Nine o' clock News. First off. A "Soshul Workar" took no blame for nufffin. An Afghan official has been killed by a suicide bomber. NATO are getting rather annoyed with Ghaddaffi and Manchester United are playing football with somebody.
Marines ? Forgotten.
It was the same in NI and all the other bits of nastiness since WW2.
Somebody in the BBC needs a serious kick up the arse.
I could continue the rant but what's the point ?
I bet Kipling would have something to say on the matter.

| So??What`s new..?It`s been going on ever since we had armed forces. As for Selly Oak..?There was a report that some locals (decide for yourselves who they were)were complaining about the noise of the aircraft bringing the wounded home...

Kiplings " Tommy" just about sums it up.

| Or Another Tommy ANON
They flew me 'ome from Baghdad with a bullet in me chest. 'Cos they've closed the army 'ospitals, I'm in the NHS. The nurse, she ain't no Britisher an' so she ain't impressed. It's like I'm some street corner thug who's come off second best.
Yes, it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "You're not welcome 'ere". But when Saddam was collar'd, they was quick enough to cheer. They're proud when Tommy Atkins 'olds the thin red line out there, But now he's wounded back at 'ome, he has to wait for care.
Some stranger in the next bed sez, "Don't you feel no shame? You kill my Muslim brothers!" So it's me, not 'im, to blame! An' then the cleaner ups an' sez "Who are you fightin' for? It ain't for Queen and country, it's America's bloody war!"
It's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, what's that smell?" But it's "God go with you, Tommy," when they fly us out to 'ell. O then we're just like 'eroes from the army's glorious past. Yes, it's "God go with you, Tommy," when the trip might be your last.
They pays us skivvy wages, never mind we're sitting ducks, When clerks what's pushing pens at 'ome don't know their flippin' luck. "Ah, yes" sez they "but think of all the travel to be 'ad." Pull the other one. Does Cooks do 'olidays in Baghdad?
It's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, know your place," But it's "Tommy, take the front seat," when there's terrorists to chase. An' the town is full of maniacs who'd like you dead toot sweet. Yes, it's "Thank you, Mr Atkins," when they find you in the street.
There's s'pposed to be a covynant to treat us fair an' square But I 'ad to buy me army boots, an' me combats is threadbare. An' 'alf the bloody 'elicopters can't get into the air, An' me rifle jammed when snipers fired. That's why I'm laid up 'ere.
Yes, it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, "We 'ave to watch the pence" Bold as brass the P.M. sez, "We spare them no expense." But I'll tell you when they do us proud an' pull out all the stops, It's when Tommy lands at Lyneham in a bloomin' wooden box!

| Gordon, who revamped the Tommy Atkins poem, do you know ? ... When I read how much money the 'family' wedding just cost I wonder out loud how many lads could have been kitted out with the bare necessities ..

| OMG, what have I started, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gordon, what a magnificent poem !, Email it to that spineless twat of a primeminister ( lower case p on purpose), and his 2ic. ( Wallace and Grommit, as I prefer to call them ) . After Cyclops and his gang was kicked out, I was hopeing that the Tories would revitalise our Armed Forces, no bleedin' chance !. We can afford to pay 40 million quid a DAY in " Danegeld" ( see Kiplings "Danegeld" to get my drift) to the 4th Reich ( excuse me while I stand to attention, click my heels, DAMN ! Ive got my trainers on, and point my arm at that damp patch on the ceiling ) to help out French farmers and Greek tabacco producers' and not forgetting motorways that go nowhere in Italy. BAH !!!! Im ANGRY. !! | |

| Well there is the Canadian side of it to. A year or two ago, an unnamed treasury official (for good reason) was quoted saying, " that the present Conservative Govt here in Canada would prefer that all casualties were death as it's cheaper to handle then helping out wounded survivors".
Most if not all politicians live for the feeling of power and the golden parachute on retirement. Why the Canadian Govt and UK Govt can't review past history and see that most if not all invaders in Afghanistan have had their asses kicked out after suffering grievous losses, is beyond my comprehension. Our political leaders get a woodie at just the thought of sending young men and women off on some loser cause.
It's to bad that the present govts look at their home base and clean that up.
I won't start on the UN. There is a 3 world organization run by 3rd world countries.
Stop, stop. Thanks for listening

Get them to admit it Hardrations... From day 1 we were told a wounded enemy soldier is preferable to a dead one as more resources are required to rescue and treat wounded..However if the enemy is one that does`n`t give a f**k about their men, then that logic goes out the window Shoot to kill Rather glad i didn`t have to do anything like that |

| What really gets my goat is we have got these dammed playstation /x box, ect ect, bringing out all these war games like medal of honour, band of brothers, pacific, call of duty,to name but a few now I'm fine with war games where you kill fantasy monsters ect but the games they are bringing out to today really are a bit to graphic. If the kids who play these games (and the makers)could actually see the effects caused by the bullet/bomb I wonder would they be so keen to play these games. I just don't see the point ,as if there isn't enough death & destruction about that they have to depict it so realisticly in these games well that's my view anyway end of rant | |
