Come on people it's time to fight back against the greedy grasping gits who run the power companies.

Scottish power manweb are the first to declare so it's time to give them a kicking. Anyone who is with them should immediately switch provider. I am and will be!

I know the others will follow suit but only if this lot get away with it. They lose enough people and the shareholders will start panicking either forcing them to reduce prices or fold.

It can be done if most of us do it and it is dead easy to switch if you haven't done it before.

The silence from our caring Government (and the previous one) is deafening.

i have switched several times,.each time the new company raise their prices after a few weeks, its a vicious circle, no amount of switching will make the scumbags give us cheaper power, only a clampdown by our spineless govts will sort them out, ginger

the increase wont just stop there,if we have another winter like the last one they will inevitably
increase it again blaming adverse weather conditions and us for the high demand in power .But no doubt the energy companies will have to import gas/fuel and will pass on the cost to the consumer either way they win we lose Mad lol! P.S drinks in the mess 23.00hrs celebrating promotion all ranks welcome

If everyone switches from one company then they fold or reduce prices. If you can do it to one then the others will quickly take note.

A lot of people in Britain will freeze in the coming winters because they will not be able to afford fuel. A disgrace in a rich country like Britain.

Well, for those interested, the Co-op has now gone into the power business. Brilliant, because they have no shareholders, only members, and reckon they can supply gas and electricity at lower prices. I have switched and will be saving at least £150 a year plus they pay an annual dividend. You can do it on line and it's dead simple. The Co-op does all the hard work such as terminating your old contract. Took me about 10 minutes to complete the change-over. You have to become a Co-op member, but it only costs £1, so no big deal.
Go for it!
Edit. One other thing. There is only one tariff. Simplicity itself.

You are missing a point Teabag...All the major UK power companies are owned by outsiders, and what they make out of us mugs is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. We could ignore them for years and they will still be raking it in after we are gone..

I am with Scottish Gas and was lucky enough to get on their 2010 tariff, which saved me a small fortune.Alas when that ended my bill for 10/11 was almost double what i had been paying.I had expected about a 50% increase but the rotten winter soon scuppered that

Much the same over here, electricity expensive. Many house owners are putting up those solar panels on the roof. Government gives subsiidies for fitting of panels. Get some free power themselves and sell back to the grid. Does that happen in UK?

The whole thing is a rip-off. The Big Six are busy fitting Smart meters, telling us that it will be for our benefit. Who do they think they are kidding? It's all about control. Look at water meters. Now that they are well established, the water companies are talking about increasing their charges this year if there is a shortage.
And there you have it. These companies never do anything that is not designed to increase profits. They never talk about building more reservoirs. Only increasing charges.
The diesel situation is another example. When very few cars used it, they trumpeted its low price. Now, it's more expensive than petrol.
Lambs to the slaughter.

Just done a quick calculation with the co-op prices and found i would have been £14.00 dearer for electricity and about £32.00 for gas..last year..

Methinks i`ll stay where i am for the present

talking of co-op, i cant imagine they will supply cheap power , they are too busy raising prices to help the so called poor countries, you can use any supermarket in kent, including m and s,waitrose, sainsburys , any you care to mention and the co-op comes out top, at charging exhorbitant prices, they are not interested in selling british produce just foreign muck , every thing you buy in our co-op is more expensive than anywhere else. i should imagine they will be just as expensive with their power supplies, ginger

Why do you need fuel in the Caribbean? Thought you just lounged around on beaches burning flotsam and ate free coconuts/bananas?

Note to self: Must watch less TV.

They don't eat cocynuts and stuff. They eat tourists and Scousers.

A Fijian I once knew called us "Long Pig", his promotion ceiling stopped at Sgt. !
