| I'm going to take a guess as to the Regiment of the Drum Major. I think it's a Mercian Brigade cap badge and Sherwood Foresters collar dogs and sash. Any points? Cheers, Dan. | |

| Spot on Dan...1 Bn Sherwood Foresters were recorded at Buller Barracks Münster or Lübbecke depending on where you look but clearly 6 Inf Bde of 2 Div 66-68...was in 1 Div at the time All the best Steve | |

| I agree Dan. I think that makes him Mercian Volunteers, "D" Coy (Sherwood Foresters).

| Steve, Thanks for the kind words. It was the badge on the sash that more or less, gave it away. Shelldrake, If you could somehow find a way to scan the entire magazine and post it online somewhere, I think it would be of great historical value. It's magazines like this that show exactly who was where and who moved when. Maybe not considered that important at the time, but something that has become important to the amateur historian today. Just my thoughts on the subject. Cheers, Dan. | |

The advent of administrative divisions and the return of individual Regimental cap badges didn't occur until 1968. My best guess is that it's the Drum Major from the 1st Bn. Cheers, Dan.

| DS Answer. The guy on the right is Drum Major Mike Doyle of the 1st Bn Sherwood Foresters(Nottingham and Derbyshire Regiment). Apparently the fountain to the rear dispensed 40,000 litres of free beer! Don't think it would happen nowadays - the PC and H & S brigade would put a stop to that.
Dan, I have three of these magazines I will try and scan them all - don't know how that fits with the space allocated for this Website, any ideas?

| Yes to Bunde 64/65...if research correct from 1964 2 Division HQ & Signal Regiment – Tunis/Birdwood Barracks Lubbecke/Bunde
No to UK 58/59... 2 Infantry Division Signal Regiment formed Feb 47 from 53 (Welsh) Infantry Division Signal Regiment – Tunis Barracks Lubbecke
Hope this helps...
