Got to agree Shelldrake.On my first posting (7 Sigs)Straight out of brat school as a brand new just turned 18,lance jack i was taken by my SSM and shown the room i was to take charge of.In this shithole there was an off duty Pvt of the ACC who was the bigest pile of shit i had ever or ever did come across.The SSM then said COs room inspection to morrow get it sorted.and then as an aside said lockers included.What the fick have i let myself in for said i as my heart hit the floor.As it turned out the other two members of the room were in the nick so i only had the one to sort out...Not the best introduction to a new unit

Had a similar experience on my first posting from Boys Service. I had to share a room with two hairy arsed cook cpls, lockers were non existent so their "whites" were lying around the room, they slept on mattresses on the floor and had a "Bucket Galvanised 13" in the middle of the room - dirty gits. In my 24 years experience as a Barracky Bill the worst MQs belonged to Medics and Cooks.

Just back from BAOR (1954) en-route to Korea. Newton Abbot Depot Regt. SSM puts me in charge of an empty spider. Got stuck on guard. Next morning before guard dismount along comes the SSM and tells me on on a fizzer. New draft had arrived, I had locked the spider so they under the draft cpl's supervision break the lock.

looks like it's pick on poor old little cook is it prey do tell what I have done to upset one "long range sniper" and his cohort I was proud to wear my uniform in fact it was my intention to become a drill pig but "hey ho"that never happened did it life goes on.As battalion cook I must protest strongly at this victimization I have rights you know.
Only joking guys. This one will make you laugh (seen it with my own eyes) .There was this ACC SGT who had about six kids rumour had it that he was of romany decent any way he owned a three wheel Robin Reliant(quite funny seeing the kids squashed in it).Well one day he had a problem with the exhaust so someone said take it over to the MT workshop good idea he says.Takes it there but no one home deserted so the SGT decides to have a look himself so in his infanate wisdom he finds a big piece of planking and puts it lengthways over the inspection pit (good plan)drive over it so far and be able to look under it !!!!!!!! SNAP... CRASH...BANG...WHALLOP .... the plank snaps with him still in car the car had nose dived into the pit the best bit was he couldn't open his doors. His cries for help went unheard for over an hour .When he was finally found nearly every guy from the camp came to witness what had happened something that he never let down for a long time

Don`t take offence John,we had plenty grots of our own.Towards the end of my service at the School of Signals we had a Cpl/Sgt cook who made the best curry, outside of heaven, i had ever tasted.He also had the most beautiful blond haired long legged wife.The only discord on our friendship was that he was a effin Celtic supporting weegie git..If your on this site Jim W give me a bell
