On looking at the information given about Manchester Barracks, Goslar, it states that the barracks were handed over to the German Air Force in 1956. In fact, the 1st Bn. the Bedfs & Herts Regt. were stationed there from 1956 to the summer of 1958, when they amalgamated with the Essex Regt. and moved to Dortmund.

I attended a Regimental Signals Course at Manchester Barracks Goslar Jan/Mar 1958. On completion of the course we returned to Dortmund (Moore Bks.) and rejoined the 3rd East Anglian Regiment. Benters.
I was in the 3rd East Anglian shooting team that competed in the 1958 Prix le Clerc shooting competition at Grafenwehr, Germany, referred to in an earlier post. I can confirm that we did come fourth. As mentioned we did win something, I won the Frog jumping competition and I still. have the cup. I think the runner up was a Lt. King also from 3rd East Anglian. I was a National Serviceman from the other merger partner the Essex Regt.
I think we trained for the competition at Sennslager?

Wuppertal Barracks various and a few dates/units - German source:
seems the Manchester Regiment liked re-naming barracks
Sagan Barracks Wuppertal: The barracks were also used by the British armed forces after World War II. The barracks were initially named "Anglesey Barracks". The North Irish Horse , coming from Austria, first quartered in 1946 , then on June 7th of the same year the 14th / 20th King's Hussars . With the stationing of the 1st Battalion The Manchester Regiment ( 4th Infantry Brigade Group ) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Archdale from July 1948 to March 1950, the name was changed to "Manchester Barracks".
Elsewhere: (Bloodline for anyone tracing histories) After distinguished service in both the First and the Second World Wars, the Manchester Regiment was amalgamated with the King's Regiment (Liverpool) in 1958, to form the King's Regiment (Manchester and Liverpool), which was, in 2006, amalgamated with the King's Own Royal Border Regiment and the Queen's Lancashire Regiment to form the present Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border).
