Hello,
I live in Goslar and am looking for a historical plan of the Hastings Barracks (in German "Domkaserne") )of the 400 D.C.R.E. (Deputy Commander Royal Engineer). A counterpart of such a plan of the Seaforth Barracks (in German "Rammelsberg-Kaserne") also was created by the 400 D.C.R.E. can be seen here. Who can give me a hint which archive I can request.
Greetings from Goslar, Frank

Very interesting Frank
400 DCRE (formerly 400 Works Section) had arrived in Goslar by 24 Sep 48 (could have been earlier) from Hannover, initially in town then moved to Manchester Barracks on 29 Sep 48, have searched nationalarchives.gov.uk and unit historical records do not exist for that time, so recommend you contact the RE Museum (re-museum.co.uk) maybe they can help.

May I come in at this point when people talk and think about Goslar?
I would greatly like to find a trace of an army chaplain by the name of Gordon Carter. He arrived in Goslar in late 1945 and took residence in my grandmother´s home. My mother then began to work for him as an interpreter and through this she met my father, who, in 1948, had been released to Goslar from clearing landmines as a POW in Northern Africa. From this meeting I originated.
After the war Carter lived and worked in a village near Exeter where we visited him and his family in 1959. Since every trace has been lost.
