| While at 5 Ord Bn (Paderborn) I thought since we had a local brewery it might be a good idea to organise a brewery trip, I got it cleared through company HQ then gave the Paderborner brewery a bell, a few weeks later a coach load of us arrived at said brewery. After the guided tour we were shown to a very nice bar within the brewery and the beer just kept on comming. We didn't even have to go to the bar, if it looked like your glass was about to be emptied a waitress would appear and replace it with a full one they couldn't pour enough down our necks! this went on for hours. Suffice to say that everyone involved considered the trip a great success. | |

| During a trip to Denmark, we visited the Tuborg brewery. The outcome was predictable ! While showing the flag around the various UNFICYP contingents, we encountered Finnish hospitality. There was one bloke at FINCON who spoke a few words of English. He sat everybody around a table and we each received a half pint tumbler which was promptly filled, almost to the top with vodka. A bottle of lemonade was then produced and a splash of it went into each glass. "Now ve drink Finnish Seven Up !", he declared and emptied his glass in one swallow. A few tried to follow suit, other took it more slowly. None survived ! | |

| Talking about BREWERIES. Last place I lived at in UK, prior to emigrating to HM Colonies, was NORTHAMPTON. There was a big Phipps brewery there, 100 year old. Now it is Carlsberg I believe. Bloody Euros, taking over the joint. |

Bloody Euros, taking over the joint. Sadly correct ( Euros taking over the joint) However, without getting overly political I think the € has had it's day. Greece will default, it's not a question of if, but when, you don't need to be an economist to see that. And that will sound the death knell for the stinking €uro. | |
