Help me out guy's it's the Queen's B'thday on Saturday and seeing as I'm in London on Thursday & Friday I thought I'd just pop in in give her my present ... now you don't think this my be a bit OTT ?

I served during the last King's reign for nearly two years, remembering all the Officers wearing black armbands etc. Solemn affair. Windton was PM then and remember him greeting the new Queen at the airport.

Last time it happened to me was August 4, 1956 .. the village Bobby handed me my recall for Suez ..

The Queen's birthday - which one ? She has two birthdays. The Official one is held around the end of May, beginning of June when the weather is normally better than in April (Her real birthday), and is marked by the Trooping of the Colour Parade. It is also the occasion when honours and awards are given out to some people of the Commonwealth. Australia and Canada do not now figure in these awards as they have their own. Good solid info which we were taught at school . Doubt it is so now.
