Just a cotton - pickin' minute here ! My (6th) edition of "Regimental Badges", Maj T J Edwards has, on page 314, under the heading Miscellaneous, the badge of Army Legal Services. When was it ever a Corps ?

| Hi Shelldrake,
I cheeted, I looked up on the web but the answers I got were quite diverse. Some said the Coldstream Guards, another fellow said the the Royal Fuseliers (1st of Foot), etc so I settled for the HAC being in the majority of answers. Is it correct ? Jimsigs1

JB, Are you asking 1) how many regiments of the line organized Pals Battalions or 2) how many Pals Battalions were organized? I found this on Spartacus Educational. http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/FWWpals.htm"Pals battalions made up a significant proportion of Kitchener's army. Between September 1914 and June 1916, a total of 351 infantry battalions were raised by the War Office through the traditional channels whereas 643 battalions were raised locally." Pals Battalions were raised between 1914 and 1916 before the draft began being used to recruit manpower. Cheers, Dan.
