| I read Denis Wheatley , Radio Astronomy, Quiet flows the Don and Practical Radio by FJ Camm. I also read my Confid Record which wasn't vy interesting. I sufferred many indignities being led astray by more experienced compatriots. Jankers fines etc. My first working unit in Shorncliffe Bks and Winterbourne Gunner. | |

| I well remmeber our WVS Lady in Fort Prince of Wales in Deilinghofen. She ended up marrying a career Gunner in 2 RCHA (WW 2 vet). She was a super person to us youngsters. Retired back to the UK with her Canadian and I'm sure had a good peacful life. | |

| There was a WVS woman "on the strength" when I was in Boys at Hereford. Wearing the rank of Major, we had to address her as "Miss Withers". Fifty five years ago, funny how some things stay in your memory. (What the hell's gone wrong with this page ? Like bloody cinemascope, can't turn my back for a damn' minute ! Haarumph !) | |

| Respecting the WRVS ladies folks.I have the utmost respect for them. They were nice to talk to and I'm sure that they listened to some of the troops problems and helped tremendously those young lads who were feeling a bit lonely so far from home. | |

| Was'nt so much the reading it was the watching I remember back around 1981 going to the cinema can't rember the film but the whole place was packed out with squaddies...now the film had finished and we were making our way to the exit's when that famous Looney Tunes theme started up well believe you me it was a stampede to get back to your seat in fact looking back it was bloody hilarious ..grown men and cartoons . I still laugh at them to-day what about you guys got a tale to tell of how immature we are ha ha | |
