| These two old timers (ouch) are still going strong, the smaller one is made by a German firm named Peter, I bought it in 1952 in Herford for 5 marks, recently had it cleaned and overhauled cost me $250 .. but worth it for the memories. Although it was bought in 1952, the Swiss watch maker who recently fixed it said the movement is much older, possibly post WW1. It keeps great time and the alarm is the usual 'brrrrr' then it switches to a music box that plays the Third Man Theme which was all the rage back then. The other keepsake, also keeps great time and I bought that here in Canada in 1966. It was stolen once by some kid's who broke into the house, recovered by my eldest who saw it at a party he was attending. It quit working for a year so I took it to work to listen to the radio portion of it, when one day, it just stated up again aand its still running. Wakes me up when necessary with music and puts me to sleep with the same. Len (Ciphers(

| I can beat 47 years old.
Bought my Europa clock in Rosenheim in 1957...55 years old....and still going strong.
I regret that the receipt has gone missing over the years.
I still have the receipt for my watch bought in 1958, also in Bavaria. I had it recently cleaned, etc., and it was taken back to the village where it was bought on my last visit to Brannenburg. Alas, the watchmaker is no longer in business. It was the first item I ever bought on credit. After each pay parade we would go into the village and pay our 5 DM until we had cleared the debt. (12DM to the £1...these were the days!).
Happy days. | |

| As a kid I once got a 'travelling alarm clock' as a birthday present, I think I would have been eleven or twelve years old. It was identical to John Boy's pic and a treasured possession. Sadly gone now. Haven't thought about that clock for years, funny the things you remember. | |
