My rapidly failing memory prompts this request....
A bit of Background...
I was a scruffy Sapper in 'Osnatraz' between the years '64- '68 Arrived Mid February when baby daughter was 8 weeks old ( she'll be 50 this year). A Temporary accomm was found for the first week in the Hotel 'OXO' just down from Roberts Barracks and opposite the German War Memorial.
We were then taken by a kindly Troopy to a village about 10 K. outside of Osnabruck to start our residence at a Private hotel "Haus Flaké" which had 10 rooms, each occupied by a squaddies and their (necessarily small) families. My only recollections of my fellow residents is that two of them were, like me, Ex Rock Apes ( Ex 1st Fortress Squadron Gibraltar) First,a Jamaican lad by the name of 'Tiger' Bradshaw. Tiger's firstborn son must be the same age as my daughter..... and second was 'Jock' MacCallum married to Asuncion( Suzy) ( a Spanish lassie from the same town in Spain as my first wife)
I would like to trace this young German family who looked after us, as they were just starting out in life too. But my old memory has let me down and I cannot recall the name of the village nor even the direction it lay from the centre of town.
If any one has any clues on the name of the village I'd be grateful as we're doing a tour of Germany in July after the Hameln Freedom March.
