| Sir, I served in the LAD at Elizabeth Barracks when the Sherwood Foresters were there and I am positive that they were re-located and the 1st Battalion the Green Howard's replaced them. I cannot remember exactly when it was though Regards Ricky Mower | |

Welcome, REME reinforcements are always welcome
I think you are talking about the late 1960s when the Green Howards replaced the Sherwood Foresters in Minden just prior to their amalgamation with the Worcesters | |

| According to "British Army Units from 1945 On" The Sherwood Forseters moved to Elizabeth Barracks, Minden, from Buller Barracks, Munster, during May 1968. They relocated to Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster, during November 1969. Three months later they amalgamated with The Worcestershire Regiment. The Green Howards moved to Elizabeth Barracks during November 1969, and remained there for 4 years (and 3 roulements to Northern Ireland). Cheers, Dan. | |
