The G7 leaders issued a statement yesterday condemning Russia's actions. “International law prohibits the acquisition of part or all of another state's territory through coercion or force,” the statement said. “To do so violates the principles upon which the international system is built. We condemn the illegal referendum held in Crimea in violation of Ukraine's constitution. We also strongly condemn Russia's illegal attempt to annex Crimea in contravention of international law and specific international obligations. We do not recognise either.” To this end we have unanimously decided to award Russia "Nuls Points" at next months Eurovision Song Contest.

Something sensible at last! Though this is hitting below the belt somewhat, Putin will be shivering in his fur lined boots now he realises the seriousness of Russia's actions.

Fur-lined boots hardly a fashion statement at the World Soccer Cup in Brazil - not been uninvited have they? at least Ukraine wasn't down to play or they might have fielded two teams!
