Pte Henry William Walker

Hello all.

I'm doing some family tree research and would like to know if anyone can verify I am barking up the right tree (excuse the puns) with this.

My avatar shows a picture of a man who I believe was my Uncle Henry.

From my records I have a death cert stating the below but it seems odd he would be out in BAOR in 1950 if it was disbanded then?

Death Cert States:

Henry William Walker
Died 19 August 1950 [Aged 19]
Einfield Nr. Neumunster, BAOR
Pte 5/22153542 RASC

Army Form A44A FSOM, 206 RASC BAOR

Cause of death Asphyxia by drowning.
[I understand he died on a training exercise from memory but my dad (his brother) is no longer alive to ask.]
Registered 4 September 1950
Major C E Pointen No 24/5
No. 6705

If anyone is able to verify from the uniform on the avatar that it's likey to be my uncle, and obviously if anyone actually remembers Henry, I'd love to hear from you.

There was a significant RASC presence in Neumunster in 1950 based in McLeod Barracks (the former Hindenburg Kaserne) in the centre of town

I think Major Pointen could have been the Officer Commanding 206 Company RASC

Einfeld not Einfield is a new suburb on the northern suburbs of Neumunster town

Do you have a photo of Henry's gravestone?  

Via the Internet there is a low resolution viewable photo available. High res photo costs £3.50 via email.

Sorry, I diid not know Henry. Nor do I have any personal information about him. You can request this as a family member via the MOD.  Someone on this forum will probably advise you how to complete a request.

Here is a link which mabe useful in the future when searching for graves, especially Post 1948, when CWGC no longer recorded the information, but the graves were still located at CWGC sites.

A small correction to the Regimental Number you supplied. Change the '5' to an 'S', which stands for 'Supplies'.

My dad (Frederick Everett Walker) served in the Royal Navy WW2 and after for a while. He survived hence I am here typing this today. Very sad that my nan lost her youngest boy in an accident in peace time. Must have made it even harder to accept bless her.
