These photos to me were sent by the colleague who served in SVMS (the English zone city of Byunde).

when you was with SMLM in Frankfurt, which checkpoint did you use to enter/exit West Germany
and who processed your paperwork?

Hi Sergey,
thanks for confirm what i assumed.
At the checkpoint Wartha/Herleshausen was no special military lane as it was in Helmstedt.
How did you process with the east-german border guards going out/coming in?
On the west-german side sometimes there was US MP but i believe not all the time.
Did you have to announce your border crossing in advance?

                                                                                                             Hi,Wolfgang. Travel across the border in East Germany and back to Germany were always at the agreed time. Us always at the appointed time, waited for the American military police. And in the GDR, the border guards saluted, did not come to us and immediately gave the green light.

can you describe the situation when arriving in Wünsdorf HQ (or was your destination Berlin-Karlshorst)?
Were there questions about the western car and the eye-catching license plate?
Was the car seen in public or hide immediately in a garage?
