Has any one got any photos of VW Beetles used by the british army in Berlin Question

I'm very surprised Brian that nobody has answered your request for V-Dubs used by British troops in Berlin!

There is one on my website (www.redcap70.net) which was used by 247 Provost Coy.RMP. Scroll down to 246/247 Pro.Coy. Berlin. There you'll see what they called "Berlin Z Cars". The photo was taken in 1961!

If you visit our website you will also see touring vehicle No 4 which was a VW taken in 1961, just days before the berlin Wall went up.

the website is then click on Later years 1970 - 1990, then onto photographs and scroll down and there is the vehicle.

no pics but got a empty bottle of champagne from the berlin train which was specially bottled just for the train will dig it out and send u a pic if u like, I was in berlin 85 - 87 at the BMH

I have pictures of the Allied Parade taken about 1963 which I would be willing to send on a CD - not many pictures, as I recall, but may well be worth a look

See my First Post on General Forum. I have a ton of photos and slides from Berlin. All in storage in UK, am not due back there until Aug 2010.Once settled I'll get as many as I can onto this site and possibly in digital form (somehow). I have two years complete of the Allied Parade with all nations troops and vehicles, also plenty from around the city.
All 1965-68.

Hi all,

That line up of Veedubs must have been not long after the war, where was it taken?
Brand new, perhaps the handover of the first batch? No vehicle numbers etc
Now I can see why they were unstable on corners, high centre of gravity and no weight at front
Anyone got photos of VW in Roberts Barracks Osnabruck, used as CO's home to barracks transport when I was there

You're right. Looks like the handover.

The buildings in the rear are looking like the Volkswagen factory at Wolfsburg (view from the Mittellandkanal to the Buildungs)
