EDIT POST UPDATE - Merlin Jones is currently looking after the website. It was back on line by mid August 2022.
Does anybody know who set up or ran the website British Army Units 1945 Onwards? A rather detailed website with every regiment, squadron and unit of the British Army - which showed all the known locations, tours, amalgamations, disbanding dates, etc. The website appears to have vanished off the internet, which is rather a shame for such a great resource

i found this on the ARRSE website;
I've now been in contact with Merlin Jones, who owns the site Copy and paste - web.archive.org/web/20220419143549/british-army-units1945on.co.uk/
I know that the website british-army-units1945on.co.uk/ might not have been 100% accurate, but it was still a damn good resource. But it's now off line, and I wonder if anyone knows who owned it and was compiling that information. It would be a shame to lose that resource, and I'd like to help revive it.
I did email them in 2018, and never got a response. But know that they did change hosting providers which could explain that. I've reached out to the current Domain and web host, asking that they pass a message on.
So if anyone knows who was doing this website then please do give me a shout
Mark
Having then posted something myself - i got this reply; ve managed to make contact with the new owner, one Merlin Jones. Says he's missed the Domain name renewal emails, but is sorting it. Mean whilst, whole site is stored at
Need to remove the space after https, as it won't let me post without the gap

Shout out to Mark Ellis & 298TYR;
As you say, whilst not 100% accurate, it is a formidable piece of work. As an ex- Chief Clerk, I appeciate the time and effort it must have taken. The benefits outweigh any possible negatives. However, if anyone in our community knows an entry is not 100% accurate, they should email the originator with the information.
Last night I sent an email to the admin address as shown on the Welcome page of the web site but got a failed to deliver quoting "550 no such person here.
298TYR - I note you have been in contact with the owner? Is it posssible for him to update the email address so that interested parties can contact him with updated information?

Tug1965, the site is now owned or looked after by one Merlin Jones. I've sent him a message on Facebook this morning, advising of your post and the email issue. Hopefully he'll take a look soon. Mark

No Merlin, No Magic, (like the archive) (like the engine - WW2) the site I have quoted belongs to MoD.
