Ladies and Gentlemen, we are working on a new exhibition titled “BRITISH FORCES IN BERLIN. OCCUPIERS, PROTECTING FORCE, ALLIES AND FRIENDS”.
Besides lot of pictures, uniforms, documents etc. we will receive furniture from the old Officers Club.
We want do display the famous “Herforder Brewery” that supplied beer for UK forces in a nice officers / sergeants mess scene.
Unfortunately, I was not yet able to find a “yellow handbag”, the 8-pack of Herforder Pils.
If you still have one available (preferably the old original one, empty bottles are fine, even without bottles would be helpful) and you are willing to donate or give it to us as a permanent loan, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you!

Have on record that in 1946 the NAAFI Brewery was located at the Schultheiss Brewery, Neuendorfer Strasse, Berlin-Spandau until Mar 47, my Historical Records for British Troops Berlin only go up to Jun 47 at the moment, awaiting up until Mar 49 (my current research limit) from the UK Public Records Office at Kew in London.

Good luck with your search, Thomas! I suspect you will be hard pressed to find even an empty one. Those were no good for anything. No 're-cycling' back then!
I was with 4 Div Sigs., LAD in Hammersmith Barracks, Herford ('79 - '82). I'm sure Herforder was sold in the Mess, but I don't recall seeing a 'Yellow Handbag' in there. Not sure George would have allowed it (probably no profit in it for him. Ooops! ).
Certainly we took them on exercise (bought from the NAAFI), but a full one would never have made it back to camp (the contents were too good!) and empty ones simply went for rubbish.
Who would have thought that even an empty one would become a 'museum piece'!!!
I will look through my old photos. Maybe something hidden in the background.
