Kitted out and registered. haircut and two weeks learning how to bull gear and march in an orderly manner, and driven by hunger start to eat whatever the cookhouse concocted and presented as food. Second week assessed and told what branch of the Artillery we were being posted to, mine was 38 TRRA Kimnel Park Rhyl for Wireless Operator training, on 19 sets. a lot of time in classroom, small arms training PT sessions. marching up and down, diagonal and about turns, map reading, cable laying guard duty and a mixture of medical examinations and jabs. Sergeant Hawks controlled Dog Squad, a man with a mean disposition, and a bent for supplying the cookhouse with jankers miscreants. Sometime in March 1955 we were told our postings and destinations. Four of us were going to CB Staff Troop HQRA 11 Armoured Div Herford BAOR, sent to Woolwich and given 2 weeks leave.
