| It was an RAF hospital but served all forces in the area. Our first was born there and I was army. I also spent a short time in there with a cyst under a tooth. | |

| During my time at RAF Eindhoven '53-'56 I transported (as a MT driver) quite a few wives to this hospital to have their offsping. I took in one and came out with two and a few times three, counting the mother!! Although I never visited as a patient I found it to be a very clean and capable hospital but then the RAF did have the best doctors....!! | |

My first was also born in 1973 at Wegberg. Sadly we lost her in 1977. I have a very tatty old postcard of Wegberg in aerial view. The Wegberg ring was a famous car race track at one point I understand?

My Son born there 1963 pre our End-of-Tour and any photos would be great. Yes it was RAF but my friends in all the Arms were treated there in my days! Thanks!

He said it wouldn't hurt, I have reason to believe he told me a "Fibby", it hurt like hell. However, the Staff were great, the food outstanding and considering my Father was RAF, he told me it was my fault for letting the Family down for being a "Pongo".

| Our family has particularly fond memories of RAF (H) Wegberg. Our second son was born there in Dec 1970 when we were living in Rheindahlen. Our third son was born there in Feb 1977 when we were living in Weeze (RAF Laarbruch). The German midwife immediately recognised my wife not only because of our name but because of the speed and ease with which she was able to give birth. A great hospital and lovely staff. | |

| I have mixed feelings and memories of RAF Wegberg. 1972 was in the orthopaedic ward for 4 weeks with a very bad injury to my arm, was well looked after and had a great time hiding the cans of stout under my bed, aided and abetted by a young nurse called Williams.
The parting memory is one of great sadness. Our son Jamie was born in 25th April 1974, healthy boy, no problems, tragically died of a cot death in the maternity ward, only 5 days old and is now laid to rest in the Military Cemetery Rheindahlen, there are so many babies buried there.

| We had terrible time with our son, the Army in its wisdom decided to post us out within 4 weeks of his death, so we had no time to grieve and no way of getting back to visit the grave. In fact they posted me to 30 sigs, in on the Monday.... Cyprus unaccompanied by Friday, ideal support for my wife.............not.

Sorry to hear that. My experience was just the opposite and I was told to take as much leave as I needed. I was posted to UKLF which wasn't ideal at the time so asked for a discharge. In hindsight I should have asked for a compassionate (TA?) posting but my head wasn't straight. Our little girl was four so I don't know if that made any difference?

| It seems like a common thread of moving you out asap, or move the 'problem' onto someone else. You dont say what year this happend?
For us I think as much local leave would have beena god send and then to remain in Germany at least to be able to visit my sons grave would have given us a better chance of coming to terms with the tragedy (if you ever do)
