RAF hospital Rostrup

Hi all,new member here so please be gentle,looking for any info on 30haa regt,particularly my dad WO2 Martin Tweedy who was stationed with the BAOR,looking at my birth cert i was born 1956 and my place of birth was RAF hospital Rostrup,any infor no matter how small will be great

If you go to Delmenhorst in the Locations Section you will find a brief mention of 30 HAA Regiment RA who were stationed there in the 1950s

I was born at RAF Hospital Rostrup in November 1956 and would like to know what the nearest town to the hospital is called. Any help would be great..

RAF Rostrup was at Bad Zwischenhahn, in Niedersachsen

The rubble was used, among other things, to build roads. Only the third runway, running parallel to the Zwischenahner Meer, and a hangar were preserved and were used by the Canadian Air Force as a makeshift airfield until 1946.

In 1951 the Royal Air Force took over the former air base from the Canadian troops and built the RAF Hospital Rostrup with 150 beds on the site directly on the Zwischenahner Meer from 1952 to 1954. In the immediate vicinity, several houses that still exist today were built as quarters for officers and NCOs. In 1958 the British troops withdrew and officially handed over the facility to the German Armed Forces on September 22, 1958, which then put the former military hospital of the Royal Air Force into service as the German Armed Forces hospital Bad Zwischenahn with initially 100 beds. On October 1, 1970, the name was changed to the Bad Zwischenahn Army Hospital, and at the same time it was opened to civilian patients.<<
