| I was at Fassberg as a clerk on Tech Wing from the middle of Summer 1955 to when it closed in 1957.
On the Wunstorf site it states that No. 5 & 11 Squadrons where at Wunstorf in the early 50's - this is incorrect as the three squadrons at Fassberg, namely, 5, 11, & 266, (which all flew Venom Mk. IV's when I was there,) did not leave until late 1956.
One of my last duties late in December 1956, was to visit Goch where all the Technical Pubs. Amendments were sent out from and it was left to me to amend the massive card index system just erasing "Fassberg" from each card - it took me four days and I was only supposed to stay one day! | |
