| Hi all,
Can you help with a query. When British Forces France closed down in 1947 a friend of mine was posted on detachment from No. 1 Ind Coy Loyal Regt to the MT section at 54 Holding Unit at Bielefeld as a dispatch rider. He can't remember which of the many barracks in Bielefeld it was. Any ideas.

| It sounds very much as though 54 Holding Unit was what us "young pups" would have known as a Transit Camp. There is a mention of it here:_ http://groups.msn.com/ERICFARRISOFBIDDENDEN/myarmyservice.msnwI cannot find much else about it at the moment, we need one of our "Bielefeld Experts" on the job. Yes it was we would call a transit camp now. I think the real title was RHU - Reinforcement Holding Unit.
