Greetings from Scotland.
Read you email tonight. I was at Delmenhorst 1954/55 as an ECE/AA. I did by basic training at Honiton, then at No 5 Training Batt. Arborfield. before posting to Delmenhorst.
I was based in the REME W/shop, but was always out on training schemes with 30 Regt. RA. Our team serviced the HAA guns and the early computers, alongside the Radar Team, who looked after the Radar Sets.
Kind regards,
Bob Cloughley. No 22873238

Hi there. I'm posting this message on behalf of my father Donald Turner. He was stationed at Delmenhorst between May 1954 and July 1955. He was a radar mechanic with 5 AGRA REME workshops. From July 1955 to December 1956 he was stationed at AA ranges at Todendorf. Prior to that he did his basic training at No. 1 Training Batt at Blandford (Sept to Nov 53) and at No.5 Training Batt at Arborfield (Nov 53 to April 54). He would love to hear from anyone who remembers him or anyone who served with 5 AGRA REME workshop at that time.

Stadtkreis Delmenhorst including Caspari Kaserne later Vancouver Barracks was used as a transit camp when 3rd Canadian Infantry Division (Canadian Army Occupation Force) under command 30th Corps District moved to the United Kingdom via Cuxhaven Docks May/June 1946, also as a disbandment centre for British Army units, those units will not be listed, here are the major units stationed in Delmenhorst post VE Day 8 May 45.
Have one other barracks listed as Chindit Barracks believe this could have been Düsternort Camp.
